(#19) that was placed about a month ago and is giving me constant pressure (like a dull non stop pinching/pulling at the filling, but not deeper) , no cold or hot sensitivity or pain biting down, although I think there is a high spot.  

This tooth was originally filled in 2022 for small chips in between 18 and 19. Dentist recommended the fill at the time, I didn't request it. 

Its been redone a few times since then (I moved, and current dentist noted it didn't look bonded well, i had issues with seeds/grains causing pressure pain in a specific area).

Most recently it was redone in September this year, and then again 2 weeks later due to voids in the filling at the end of September (kind of ridiculous).

I recently got a second opinion on this-- new dentist stated that the filling is very shallow (again it wasn't a cavity, but for a small groove/chip), and said that it could take up to 2 months for sensitivity to go away, she doesnt think a root canal is required, she tapped the tooth with an instrument and blew cool air on it,  which didn't cause any issues. 

However, I'm still having issues. I'd like to avoid a root canal, I'm going to the new dentist again this afternoon to see what she recommends.

She didn't want to adjust it or do any more work on it last week, since it had been worked on so much recently.


Do I need a root canal?
