odd unmarked trail intersection high on the Edmand's path?

I've been down a trail or two (my grid pctg now stands at 153%, my number of 4Ks is now over 1050) but Edmand's path is something I've only done once before. I did it a coupla days ago, and high on the Edmand's path, a little below where it stops xversing across the face of the summit cone and starts to dive into the valley, I encountered a trail junction where there is no indication of junction on any of the (few) maps at which I looked. The Edmand's path at that point is ascending the fall line, and takes an approx 45 degree turn to the uphill-looker's-left, is wide and painfully obvious trail corridor, not easy to miss. The Y trail in question has a bunch of logs piled across it, and proceeds about 10 degrees uphill-looker's right. Multiple people had stepped across the logs and proceeded up the unmarked trail. This was approx 2.15 miles from the TH. Anyone have any beta on this? A sekrit way up the west summit cone of weisenheimer?
