AITA for not giving out candy on Halloween?

I just recently got my schedule changed at work from working night shift (for almost 5 years) to finally getting a day shift schedule. My days off also changed as well to Sundays and Mondays. As of last week, I now work from 4:30am-4pm. I've told my roommates about this change several times over the past month and about how excited I was for this change, yet somehow, the very first week they didn't realize that I had switched shifts.

So yesterday on Halloween, I got a text around 2:30p out of nowhere from one of my roommates boldly and randomly saying that "I'm in charge of handing out candy" because both of my roommates have to work. I tell my roommate that I wouldn't be able to because I have to wake up very early for work.

Because I work nearly 12 hour shifts a day, I get a very limited amount of time after work to decompress, eat dinner, run errands, get ready for bed, etc. before going to bed. I literally only get 2 and a half hours to myself before I need to be in bed.

I suggested leaving a bowl out, but yet he still wanted me to hand out candy for whatever reason. I get ready for bed around 6:15-ish to try and get to bed around 7-ish which is prime trick-or-treating time. It's already bad enough that I had to deal with the numerous Ring notifications last night.

My roommate at times can be bossy, rude & inconsiderate of others and not even realize it. I tried to compromise, but it seems like he wasn't having it. He texted me around 8:15-ish to refill the candy bowl, but by that time I was already in bed.

I find this situation to be extremely absurd and stupid, honestly. Like are we really arguing about this right now? Thankfully I'm moving out once the lease ends in a few months. 🙏🏼

Am I tripping, or AITAH for not wanting to give out candy last night because I had to work the next morning?!
