Who the heck is Narôgath?
Spoilery stuff ahead, so I won’t bother marking any individually.
So—who the heck is Narôgath?
That’s the question my group immediately asked after deciphering the letter in Warren’s puzzle box.
And honestly, it’s a great question. The Hungering Abyss barely answers it. Sure, he’s a cultist and the Charnel Lord—but who was he before that? A professor like Warren? An investigator who “saw the light”? And why is the letter even marked as an Important Clue!? The only real info it adds is his name and Warren’s intent to rise to his position.
Has anyone come up with a backstory for Narôgath, or any clever reason why reading Warren’s letter would matter in Act 3?
I was thinking maybe shouting Narôgath’s name during the ritual could throw him off for a moment—or if the investigators are posing as cultists, they might sound more convincing if they can drop his name casually to guards or other initiates.
