Fiancé dabbing weed nightly to fall asleep, something bizarre happened
Hi all,
It's 6am and I woke up from a series of strange interactions with my fiancé and I can't seem to find anything relevant to what I'm going through online, so here I am.
For context, my fiancé (28M) smokes weed from a pen every single night to fall asleep. I (27F) know the studies, he knows the studies in the impacts of cannabis and sleep, but does not believe them. He smokes from his pen even when having alcohol (which the alcohol isn't very often these days) and sometimes behaves weirdly at night. He gets in these states of deep, almost non responsive sleep.
Last night, we shared a bottle of wine and I went to bed, he joined a bit later after playing a video game to unwind from the day. At one point in the night, his arm is on me and I need to shift in bed so I go to move his arm. Normally he moves his arm himself after I push it off, but this time is was so heavy and "dead" like and it freaked me out so I shook him and he responded with a sound. No big deal, I fell back asleep.
Later that night, he turns in his sleep and he elbows me in the mouth, almost knocked my goddamn teeth out and I scream. He wakes up and asks "what? Are you okay, what happened " I explained, he says sorry and I asked how much he smoked/drank. He said the normal amount of weed (which is two big drags off his pen) and he only had the wine we had that night, and then he asked why I was asking. I asked him "don't you remember clocking me in the face" and he says "what? No did I do that?"
This is when I freaked out because we literally had a conversation about that 20 seconds ago. He got really, really defensive about his substance use and told me all of this is normal. I'm freaked out. Is this normal? I don't consume weed regularly (1-4 times per year) and I certainly don't consume weed with alcohol so I don't know if this level of DEEP sleep and behavior around it are normal. Any insight appreciated :)
