One of the worst things a fanfic writer could encounter are normies aka Tik Tok fandom spaces

Btw guys if you see related posts like this on discussion flairs, I deeply apologise. I didn’t know where to put it beforehand and I’m kind of new here. I need to learn more about flairs to be honest. But anyways, let’s begin this unnecessary rant.

This has been happening since 2023 but the one that happened just several months ago is the worst. I was told to delete my fanfiction by normies in disguise of a fandom because I’m sure they’re from Tik Tok fandom spaces but whatever. I don’t really understand why they want me to delete my fanfics but they said it’s because my fanfics have ‘problematic’ content and stuff and it involves real people too.

Like firstly, who do you guys think you are? Are you the agents of these celebrities? Are you the fandom police or whatnot? Cuz apparently on certain fandoms, or maybe just Tik Tok fandom spaces, I believe there is this hidden rule that you can’t write fanfiction. Even though I clearly included disclaimers, added a mature label (the fanfic series was initially on Wattpad, big mistake, don’t do this) and stuff, nobody listened. They’re just finding ways to bully me at this point.

So yeah I deleted my fanfiction and since this happened on Discord where the people from the Tik Tok fandom space are, I left that server. It was my darkest moment ever, especially because my friend had just got out of suspension from university following a suicide attempt at the time and I was recovering from emotional distress. I remembered wanting to scream but I can’t because I was in my dormitory and people could hear me.

So instead I sucked it up and never opened up about it. It took me a while to finally do due to trust issues and stuff and also ever since October, I was finally able to republish and re-edit my fanfics and put them on Wattpad and AO3 under a pen name instead of my full name. I highly do not recommend using your full name unless you want to be Anna Todd or something. Because then my reputation irl would be screwed, I might even get expelled from university or get arrested.

I remembered years ago when someone said my university might not accept me because I write fanfiction. Well I’m in university now so screw them. Also, recently, someone threatened to report me to law just because my fanfiction series has teenagers in them. Firstly, that’d a high school AU and secondly, at this rate then BL and yaoi writers should be in jail by now. At this rate then I might sue that person for defamation but I guess it’s best to move on, I can’t just dwell on the hate. I just need to say this cuz it’s been sitting on me for months and I need it out.

But at least I got a happy ending, my friends whom I met on Discord and Tik Tok supported me and my university friends irl also supported me and I’m now doing better. I’m writing again and republishing my old fanfics again under a new Wattpad and AO3 account with a pen name and to be fair, it’s the best thing ever and I hope I could write more.
