Three different brands. Three different times of day. Way too much water drunk. It all lead to the exact same result: you were pregnant. Probably a few weeks along, given that your period was weeks late. And to think your first conclusion was menopause.

You sat on the toilet, shocked. You were still fertile, but it was a remote chance you'd ever get pregnant. Not just because of your age but well...the lack of options for someone who could do so. To say nothing of the fact you weren't really thinking about the idea. But what do they say about assumptions? The joke was right: They made an "Ass" of "U" and "Me". Now, after assuming "what can going without protection do? it's not like I'll get pregnant at my age" here you were, closer to menopause than your twenties when you were first having children, and you had a bun in the oven. You really weren't planning on doing this again.

Still...you weren't upset about being pregnant. Giving up alcohol for about a year was always a nice thing. Even the result of how you got there was, in retrospect, pretty excellent, if a little surreal. It was the weirdest night of your life, and by all rights you should be ashamed, but maybe this is just what you and the man who got you into this situation needed.

That didn't mean it was going to be easy to tell him, however.

You sighed as you stood up. You had all the facts...now you had to tell your son he was going to become a father.
