Japanase skincare recs. and where to find them

Hey everyone,
I hope it’s okay I post this herebecause I could really use some help/recommendations!

I’m traveling to Japan soon, and I want to bring back a few skincare / makeup gifts for my mom (she's ~50). I want to pick things she’ll actually use, like moisturizers, foundation, etc, things that will make her comfortable.

I’ve heard of Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion, but I honestly don’t know much beyond the name...

Here are some of the things I’m especially curious about:

• Good lightweight but nourishing moisturizers or hydrating “lotions” / skin conditioners
• Foundations (or base makeup) that look natural, flattering on more mature skin
• Any “safe bets” brands to look for
• Where in Japan (I'll be in Tokyo and Kyoto) I can find these (which stores?)
