When Murray uses the flamethrower on the monsters, the bats fall out of the sky around Eddie, Vecna is hurt, and the vines drop Nancy, Steve, and Robin to the floor. They immediately head up into the attic.

Vecna taunts El for her and her friends thinking they have won because they haven't. Hopper uses the original Conan the Barbarian sword to cut off the arm and then the head of a Demogorgon.

Steve and Robin throw a Molotov Cocktail at Vecna, who turns to smoke in front of El inside his Mind Palace, disconnecting him from Max's mind. He gets up to advance towards them, so Robin throws a second Molotov Cocktail to knock him back. Nancy "Walk 'Em Down" Wheeler the. shoots him with her sawed off shotgun 5 times, falling out the window and landing on the sidewalk below. By the time they got down there, he was already gone.

Max passes away from her injuries in Lucas' arms. El is still piggybacking and is reminded of Max telling her "We make our own rules". She uses her powers and revives Max's body, but she was already dead for over a minute so Vecna still won.

Just as Nancy was shown, the 4 gates spread and joined together in an X shape at the center of town, right in front of Hawkins Library. This destroyed tons of homes, buildings, and killed a ton of people, including Jason who was split in half inside the Creel House attic after Lucas had knocked him out.

2 days later, the Cali Crew arrives back in Hawkins and goes to visit Max in the hospital. Lucas explains it's a miracle that Max is alive. Mike and Will share a look and then look at El, realizing it was her. El sits and holds her hand, trying to connect to her mind, but all she sees is an empty black void.

Dustin talks to Eddie's uncle, giving him his guitar pic necklace and telling him that despite how much the town hated him, Eddie died to save this town, and he was a hero.

Will tells Mike that once they returned to Hawkins, he realized he has been connected to Vecna this whole time. He knows that he is alive, hurting. He knows how he thinks, he's evil, and he will not stop unless they stop him

El is then reunited with Hopper super unexpectedly, where she cries while hugging him and says she kept the door open 3 inches. They compare shaved heads and he says he stole her look, but she says he looks Bitchin'. Hopper even hugs Mike after he first sees him, but this reunion is cut short when Will's spidey senses tingle.

They walk out into a field full of wild flowers, but half of it is rotten like the Upside Down. They look out over the town where there are multiple smoke stacks from the damage the earthquake caused. But above the Library at the center of town is a very dark cloud, and the floaties from the Upside Down start to fall around them. Evil is spreading to Hawkins, and there's One Last Adventure awaiting us on November 26th.
