Can you recover from lost attraction?
Got married early last year. We had been dating for a couple years and decided to wait until marriage (silly decision on my part looking back on it).
We get married and proceed to have no sex within the first year. All the talking we did before marriage led to empty promises. Since she was a virgin, she had some issues and anxieties around sex. Begged her to go see some therapists and doctors, and after a while she did. Doc told her to practice with dilators. After months, I had to beg and plead for her to take it seriously. Fast forward today, in year 2 of the marriage, we have sex maybe once every 1.5 months give or take. Even then, the sex is not good. We’re still young (31 and 30), and have no children, and I do myself to eradicate any external stressors in our lives. This should honestly be the peak of our sexual life before other responsibilities come into play.
All of the things that have transpired — me literally pleading for us to have a sex life, her not being fully forthcoming with me, etc — have caused me to lose attraction to my wife. I don’t care to try to initiate anymore and she doesn’t even seem to notice. I just find myself not desiring her sexually anymore. The whole thing has been a complete turn off. I thought maybe my libido was messed up because of this, but I got my testosterone levels checked recently and it’s as good as ever. I think I’ve become low libido for her. I find myself being more attracted to other women and feeling nothing when it comes to her. How can I even bring to build my attraction for her back up? Is there anyway to recover from this? I’m not happy about this at all.
