insurance policy pay-out style opinions for 6 year old?
Hi we just adopted a 6 year old mixed breed dog who has a pre existing condition, corneal dysplasia, that was deemed to not need intervention by a veterinary ophthalmologist.
Given her age, policies are limited or pricier:
- Either limited set amounts paid out depending on the illness or injury. (Slightly lower monthly premium)
- or a yearly maximum with deductible and copay (slightly higher monthly) where some might cover pre existing conditions after some time.
Pros and cons of both styles?
We’ve always had nationwide but they only offer the first style for a 6 year old but our 2 previous dogs have had the second style (our first passed and our 2nd is still on this plan) and we don’t have many issues with them. I’ve read the latest issues with them though. We are located in NY. I worry the limited pay outs per issue will not be great in the case of anything catastrophic.
