Ryzen 5 7600X hitting 100+ degrees under CPU stress tests
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to benchmark and stress test my CPU (because It was crashing in games like GTA V, Counter Strike 2, Fortnite...), but it’s hitting 100 degrees almost immediately under load.
Components:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
- Mobo: Gigabyte B650M Eagle AX
- GPU: RTX 5060 Ti
- PSU: Cooler Master G Gold 750 V2
- CPU Cooler: DeepCool AK400
- RAM: Kingston Fury 32GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30 Beast Black (EXPO profile)
What I tried:
- Repasted CPU
- Underclocked CPU to 4.5 GHz
- Reduced CPU Vcore to 1.230 V
- Disable PBO and Core Performance Boost
- Set LLC to medium
- Disable XMP/EXPO
- Monitored temps in OCCT
Extra info:
- Idle temps are around 40°C
- Running Linpack or OCCT CPU tests, temp jumps from stable 40 degrees to 70 degrees almost instantly, then spikes to 100 in under 2 minutes
- Power draw when testing is around 140W
- After stopping the stress test, temps drop very quickly (from 100+ degrees to 40 degrees in seconds)
- I tried combined stress tests in OCCT, and it basically freezes / drops to probably like 1 Frame Per Minute before crashing
