question about mr mime in detective pikachu

given that mr mime isnt technically “miming” as we would and actually creates the (albeit invisible) objects that he mimes with, how was tim able to do the gasoline thing? did mime make the constructs for him? is this just a rule of cool thing? i assumed that mime’s objects had sound effects because they were real but invisible, but tim’s canister of gasoline and matches had the sound effects too.
