Got stopped for not wearing helmet near DLF, but got a challan for “wrong parking/towing” 🤦‍♂️

Scam Alert🚨

So this happened today. I went to the DLF area around 5 PM for a late lunch. It’s pretty close to my place, so I didn’t wear a helmet (yeah, my bad). On the way back, a traffic cop stopped me.

He asked me to pull over, so I parked my scooter properly on the side and got down. He asked for my license, and while I was showing it, he took a photo of my scooter and started checking the details. Then he says, “You already have two pending challans.” I honestly had no idea — one of my friends had taken my scooter earlier, it was him on those challan photos.

He then asked for my phone number and OTP for verification. I gave it. Then he said I had to pay all the pending fines, but I didn’t have enough cash or balance right then. He did something on his device, asked for the OTP again, and I soon got a message for the challan.

I tried to check it right there on the side of the road — literally standing where he told me to stop — but he told me to move and leave the spot. So I left. After riding about 300 meters, I stopped and checked the challan. And guess what? It wasn’t even for “no helmet.” It was for “wrong parking/towing.” 😑

Like seriously? I was stopped by him, parked where he told me, and somehow got fined for parking/towing. What kind of logic is that?

Tried reporting it through the Hyderabad Traffic Police portal, but the site kept throwing “wrong OTP” errors — twice — even though I entered the correct one. So now I can’t even submit a complaint.

So yeah, ended up with a challan for something that didn’t even happen. What a joke. The system really needs fixing — or at least some honesty.
