Do cold emails work for companies like logistics?

I run a logistics company based in the UK, and we’re trying to increase our sales this year. I’ve been looking into different ways to bring in new clients, and came across the idea of outbound, particularly cold emailing.

I’ve been hearing a lot about it lately but honestly, I’m not entirely sure how it’s different from regular email marketing. I even asked our internal team to try it, but I think we all ended up doing something completely off the mark.

After doing some research, I found that Reddit seems to be one of the best places to get genuine advice and connect with people who actually know this stuff. Most of us here are Gen X, so we’re not exactly “digital natives,” but we’re willing to learn what works today. Before I hire anyone, what are the key things I should look out for when choosing a cold email expert or agency?
