The enduring allure of Friday the 13th

I can hardly explain it to myself. I mean, I didn't even grow up with Jason. The installments that are considered the best are still worse than the best installments of the other big slasher franchises, in terms of movie making quality. The worst ones are so bad that I’m constantly annoyed while watching, but I still want to watch them. All of them (well, the first 7 at least). Again and again. It’s not the only horror I watch. In fact, I watch a lot, from the 30s up to today, from ”so bad it’s good” to elevated horror. But if a demon possessed my computer and made it so I could only watch F13 (and Buffy), I don’t think I would mind too much.
