LGA 1200 or AM4?
Need advice on what to do next.
My current 10th Gen MSI B460M Bazooka motherboard suddenly stopped working, so I replaced it with an Aorus B460 Pro AC that I bought brand new for around $70 USD (originally sold for about $170 USD at my local store).
After transferring all my PC parts to the new board, it still wouldn’t power on, so I brought it to a local repair shop. They confirmed that both my old motherboard and CPU are fried.
Now I’m torn on what to do next. Should I continue building under the LGA 1200 (Intel 10th Gen) platform, or switch over to AMD’s AM4 (Ryzen) platform?
I already contacted the same store to see if they’d let me swap my new Intel board for an AM4 one, but the only option they offered was a Gigabyte B450M K for the same price.
The issue is that Intel 10th Gen CPUs are quite rare and expensive in my country, while Ryzen CPUs are much more common and offer better price-to-performance. Since I’m on a budget, I’m not sure which direction would be the smarter move — stick with Intel and find a brand new 10th Gen CPU (probably i5 10400), or swap my new board and move to Ryzen AM4.
