Try AM or stick to traditional dating?
Hi I am 24M and I do not have a hard time finding dates. Especially on dating apps, I have had a fair share of dates but I have never found someone I can imagine myself to be in a long term relationship with, because obviously - dating apps are such. And even if anything close, those girls haven't been from my community which has sort of been my family's dealbreaker, or more so, a preference. I have rarely come across traditional dating opportunities because I haven't had the access to a good pool of people after college - which was a tier 3 college and I dropped out in 2nd year to pursue my startup, which I currently run and hence, college dating opportunities were also non-existent. My work is completely remote and people I work with are not in this country and usually all the work is async. No complaints lol, but it limits your social life. So I have always had to take the initiative to go out and meet people. I love travelling so that kind of solves the very problem of meeting new people. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to live at a place for at least 6 months or a year to build strong social relationships, circles and capitol.
I know that if I move to a better place than where I live right now ( ahmedabad ), for at least 6 months or more, I will find someone. Not quite simple because again, ideally I would want to date someone from my community, which isn't impossible but difficult. Regardless, my parents can be open minded if prompted to be ( ofc its a whole process of trying to push their beliefs, I think we all have faced it with our brown parents ) and might settle for someone outside my community as they would be happy if I am happy with the person because they do believe and understand that I am the one that has to live the person for the rest of my life, not them. Again, I wouldn’t prefer to choose that path unless I feel i strongly start to feel that I am not going to find someone in my community. Some of my friends have so I do have a little hope. I am not hopeless, but the hope is less.
This makes me feel that AM may be a good bet for me. I make 8 figures with my startup and I have always heard promising things from my family and relatives with my potential in AM. With AM, I will also be able to find someone in my community and live with my family. Now, I don't know if the kind of woman I like or if my type would even consider AM. It makes me wonder if she would even be in the pool.
With AM, I fear that my prospects may majorly( but not limited to ) be from ahmedabad and to be transparent, I have never really gone out or been intrigued by someone from that city, due to how culturally limited it is for me - or in better words, hard to find my kind of people. I am blessed to have some good friends regardless. But again, I haven't met a lot of people out of my circle because it feels so alien to socialise in the place where you have grown up.
I have had a lot of relatives ask of my bio data. I am in the dilemma of, if I should give it a shot or go out in the world and try my luck.
Why not do both? Well, technically I cannot because apparently, I should be in the city if some prospect wants to do a meeting ( my parents unpopular take and firm opinion). And sometimes, traditional dating is also a lot of trial and error. I don't want to be in the middle of a "situationship" when my family shows me a good prospect lol. I just feel it won't be right having my strings attached somewhere else during the process?
Does anyone have experience to share on what kind of prospects one can expect from AM? Especially for people of my age - I know 24 may be slightly young but I have been working since the past 6 years and I have achieved FIRE ( Financial Independence, Retire Early ) so now, I am seriously looking for a partner.
Thank you for reading!
