License Transfer

Hi! I currently live in Massachusetts and have a Motorcycle license and am currently going through Driver's Ed here (am 26 but no one I live with drives so have to make due). I mentioned to my instructor that I intended on relocating to NYC in the next year, but my instructor asked if my license will even be valid in New York City/State; Massachusetts makes people retake a road test if they move here but only got their license within the past 2 years.

Does New York do this, weather at the city level or state level? Am finding mixed results googling this so I wanted to ask if anyone actually knows a concrete answer.
