Stem cell therapy for back pain
72 yo man. I have had back pain for >40 yrs, know exactly the cause (rebuilding a stone wall). Basically used NSAIDS, prednisone (5 day courses), lidocaine patches, heat, cold, mckenzie exercises. Went from a weight of 283 to 179 using trizepatide. And...back pain got worse couldn't exercise, but still able to do stuff around the house and garden. No numbness or tingling. I did not want injections and surgery. L5-S1 disk on MRI.
So, I looked into stem cell therapy (yes i was skeptical). After doing online research (I am a medical guy), I decided to pursue it. Got my injections this week, 2 on the disk bulge right side, one on the left side, and 1 in my right piriformis which is so tight and sore. 2 days later back pain is better (placebo?) and supposedly one of the more immediate actions is antiinflammatory. Piriformis still sore. They used mesenchymal stem cells from normal birth umbillical cords, processed in an FDA approved facility. No side effects. So...i'm hopeful, along with the rest of you on this sub, back pain stinks.
