The Pretender I called mine

Love & Relationships

Problem/Goal: I talked to a guy online for one year. We always called but never did a video call. I trusted him completely, but after a year he confessed that he was a poser. My goal is to find out who the real person in the picture is — the man behind the face I fell for. I’m only curious; I won’t bother or interfere in his life.

I met someone online. We talked for almost a year — every night, every morning, we shared stories, laughter, and secrets. We called often, but never did a video call. I didn’t mind. Somehow, I trusted him. His voice felt real, his words felt honest. He used to send me pictures — the same face I stared at so many times. Clean haircut, warm eyes, that soft smile. I fell for that picture, for the voice behind it, for the idea of him.

But after one year, everything broke. He told me the truth: he was a poser. The world stopped for a moment. I didn’t even cry right away — I just sat there, staring at his photo, wondering who the real man in that picture was. Who was the guy I thought I loved? Was he real somewhere out there? Was he single? Married? Did he even know that someone used his face to fool me for a year? I wasn’t in love with the poser. I was in love with the person in that photo — the one who never even knew I existed. Now, sometimes, I still look at that picture and wonder who he really is. Maybe he’s out there living his life, completely unaware that his face once held someone’s heart. And maybe, just maybe, that’s what hurts the most — knowing that the man I fell for never even knew me.

And if anyone happens to recognize him or knows who he really is, tell me… because I’m still curious about the guy behind that face — the one I unknowingly fell for. @bfisnpooo_aub If anyone’s curious about the picture he used, this is the Tg username — you can check and see the icon yourself.
