Low city MPG. is this normal?

Hi, I'm pretty new to cars. Long story short, I'm 25 and my dad passed away last year. No one in my house knew how to drive, so this year I learned using my father’s 2011 STI.

I don’t know much about cars, but I’ve been noticing that my MPG is around 8.8 to 10.8 in the city. I also have to say that I drive pretty gently and keep it in intelligent mode most of the time. Is this normal?

Any help is appreciated!

P.S. The car has about 91k miles, has a CVT transmission, and maybe 2–3 years ago my dad installed a water/methanol system with a local tuner, but for some reason I don’t know, he removed it after a few months. That’s all I know about the car.
