Appropriate Daikin Thermostat settings to stop heat strip from turning on?
Hi ..
I just had a Daikin heat pump system installed. Heat pump DH6VSA3610 - 19SEER2 Variable Speed R32 HP and Air Handler DFVE36CP1300AA R32 Daikin Fit system. I live in Northern CT. My system is connected to the gas boiler for additional heat.
The default setting to turn off the heat pump and exclusively use the gas boiler is 30F. The installers changed it to 35F but i changed it back to 30F. I think they were being too cautious. I read online that I should be able to go down to the low 20s and even teens because my system is considered very efficient and was designed for cold temperatures.
The other day when the temperature outside reached 30F, the heat strip turned on to assist the gas heat. The heat strip is on the same 60 A circuit as the air handler, so I cannot force it off.
My questions are: a) can I lower the heat pump shutoff temperature to 25 or 20? b) are there other settings I can change to make the thermostat more "patient" to allow the gas heat to reach the desired temperature?
Note that I have 3 other heating zones that I have to manually turn on to help the single gas zone connected to the Daikin One smart thermostat.
Thank you in advance
