Are all friction tuners created equal?

I have a 1960s Harmony baritone ukulele. I am having a difficulties with the tuners. At first they would slip even if I tightened the screws. Then I took them off and installed washers between the tuning machines and the headstock. This helped but they are still slipping.

It is time to replace them. They don't seem expensive but what would be a good choice of tuners? I have considered geared tuners but I would rather keep the instrument looking as original as possible.
