I’m a picky eater and don’t like vegetables, but I need to eat better.

As the title says, most veggies I dislike. I can eat a salad, I can have spinach leaves or something that doesn’t have strong VEG taste. There are many fruits I enjoy. But otherwise, my daily diet rarely has any sort of green ever. I’ll also mention I have a heavy sweet tooth, it’s almost addictive.

So I’ve looked up juicing, but apparently it’s pointless if you want the nutrients. I looked up smoothies, but some say it’s not good either… and plus I really hate pulpy drinks. Taking a bunch of vitamins or supplements apparently isn’t gonna cut it either. So, I’m kind of out of ideas.

At this point you’re probably thinking “omg just eat the vegetables” but that’s the problem. If I told you to rip a fingernail off for your health, would you jump at the chance to do it? If that sounds like an extreme comparison, that’s because yes, it IS that bad for me. I’m currently dealing with several mental issues (severe depression, anxiety, adhd, ocd) and have been in the process of trying to find a medication that helps. Which, if any of you have been on this journey, you would know it is an extremely rough ride. What does this have to do with eating right? Well, when you barely have the energy to take a shower once a week, I’d say it’s really hard to make a meal that takes longer than 5 minutes to prepare... not even considering making a meal that won’t taste good (aka most vegetables).

Quick meals to heat up in the microwave, any random snack I can grab and go, cereal, etc; that’s how I eat. No, it’s not healthy. Yes, I know eating vegetables is important. However, obviously saying “just eat them” isn’t going to rewire my brain into going “oh gee, I never thought of that!” which is why I’ve been desperately trying to find an alternative.

I think this has also been mentally hard on me because whenever I mention this issue, no one takes me seriously. They see me as being lazy and unhealthy on purpose, they tell me to just suck it up and do it, and only it makes me want to give up. I really hope anyone who responds to this keeps their heart open and tries to understand.

If there is no other way around it… I suppose I’ll just have to wait until the day my body decides it likes vegetables. And, if you managed to read this far, thank you for listening.
