Is it just consulting and sales?

I feel like I'm less and less sure about the path I'm on simply because I don't know what jobs there actually are. If I look at things like bls.gov I see plenty of job types but I come here and look at people with degree I'm aiming for and it's all consulting and if it's not that then it's sales. I'm not really sure what consulting even is in relation to environmental science but everyone seems so over it.

I've always wanted to take part in rewilding areas, esuring protections for plants and animals. I'm not sure if any of you guys know who Maya Higa is but she does amazing work but it's mostly with animal conservation. I'd like to do that but more with general environmental/ecologic work.

But everyone also says there is no money in conservation and so does the bls honestly. I'm not sure how to get to the work that I want to do. The option for degrees related to the things I want to do are limited. Multiple schools have an environmental science degree but the closet to me only has geology or a MS in environmental science.

The school I'm looking at most has EVS, agriculture, geology, and some other related degrees. I'm really torn on what to do not just because of where I want to be career wise but also what I can do now. The school I can absolutely afford and is close to me is the most attainable but it's only geology and I've seen mixed reviews on if they can actually do environmental work or not.(It seems like under certain conditions they can with better pay but it's more complicated than that)

So I'm really lost right now and I feel like I'm falling into the sort of doomerism that is all around us. Any guidance or advice? Especially from anyone working in the fields I want to work in? Thanks so much
