Read ACOSF before KoA. Did I miss anything?

Hi! I've read the TOG series and stopped after Empire of Storms. I didn't feel emotionally ready to finish that series so I didn't read Kingdom of Ash. I continued with the ACOTAR series and read all books. After that I've read the first two books of Crescent City. So basically all I have left to read is Kingdom of Ash and House of flame and shadow. Did I miss anything important to the plot by skipping Kingdom of Ash? Can I read House of flame and shadow before Kingdom of Ash? What do you think? Please try to explain it without spoilers :) Thank youu
