What is a Head Cashier responsible for?

My Department Supervisor has expressed interest in making me a Head Cashier. Before I think about taking the position, I would like to know the Pay, Hours, and Responsibilities to be expected for the role.

Am I going to be responsible for managing people? Do I need to have wide open availability? Is the pay worth it?
