Does anyone else get anxiety from having to perform socially at work?

Because if I’m just myself and relaxed I know I will say something offensive or people will most likely not like me.

So then I have to be this character that is in fact being professional I know.

But up keeping and maintaining this character is truly acting. Some will call it performative but I see it as polite and respectful but if I slip up in anyway I’m so harsh on myself as I see my coworkers everyday…

One mistake and it feels like it can be held against u or they won’t see u the same again.

This gives me anxiety it’s the worry that they will see my faults.

I see it often a coworker will relax momentarily and say something and then another will make fun of them and just like that others make fun of them from now on. But if you have boundaries and say less I feel more protected and yet maintaining this every day is a lot…what do y’all think?
