Some mobile shops charging 6.75% for Tabby card payments — daylight robbery
I’ve noticed that some mobile shops (and even a few other stores) that accept Tabby cards — not payment links, but the physical card — are charging customers 6.75% extra.
That’s honestly daylight robbery.
The processing fee for a normal POS machine usually ranges between 1.7% to 2.9%, depending on the provider. That fee is supposed to be taken from the merchant’s side, not added on top for the customer.
I’m a merchant myself, and I accept both Tabby payment links and Tabby cards. The 6.75% charge applies only to payment links, which I understand but for Tabby card transactions, it shouldn’t be anywhere near that high.
These shops are basically pocketing the difference and blaming it on Tabby, which is really unfair to customers.
So if you’re one of those shops doing this, seriously fix it. Stop blaming Tabby and overcharging your customers in the name of “fees.” You’re making honest businesses look bad.
