Recommendations for road trip in January

Hi all, I will be visiting Japan in January and am looking for recommendations on where I should visit.

We will be flying into Tokyo and would like it to be a road trip if possible.

Originally the plan was to drive up to nagano-Kanazawa-Osaka/kyoto. But I’ve seen many comments recommending against driving in the nagano region due to the snow so I’m trying to figure out an alternate route.

We will in Japan for 16 days so we have many days to work with.
