Would this rental platform idea work in a small country like Azerbaijan?
Hey everyone, I’m from Azerbaijan and I’m planning to build a local short-term rental platform similar to Airbnb, focused on local travelers. Right now, people here usually find houses through Instagram or TikTok pages where owners post photos and contact numbers — there’s no real booking system, no proper verification, and no availability calendar. My idea is to create a platform where verified house owners can list their homes, guests can easily find and book places without worrying about scams or middlemen, and all details (location, amenities, reviews) are clearly shown. For houses already listed on Airbnb or Booking, the system could automatically sync calendars via iCal, so their availability stays updated across platforms. The main challenge I’m facing is with houses that are not listed on those sites — meaning they have no calendar system. I haven’t yet figured out how to make these owners keep their available dates up to date easily and reliably. Many local hosts prefer direct calls or WhatsApp messages, and they might find updating a calendar system tiring or unnecessary. My main question is: how can I make this process simple enough that hosts actually do it, or how else could I keep the data accurate without constant manual checking? Any creative ideas or similar case examples would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! 🙏
