Enlighten me pls. ESP STEF-8

it is an extremely nice guitar, good hardware; probably plays like a dream - don't get me wrong.

However his ltd is a literal 1/3rd of the price, same pickup configuration, you'd just be stuck with that piss yellow color.

What about this guitar does the price hike come from? Does Stephen Carptenters name really command a $3k price hike? Just trying to understand. Its hard not to want this guitar and make it a long term goal of mine to aquire one, but I'd actually be worried the entire time that it's actually worth the price given all the alternatives available nowadays.
