Looking for a book the revolves around 2 middle aged older parents, their 3 kids, and 2 grand kids. Their eldest daughter is a drug addict and a negelctful mother. Her brother (the middle child) is a highschool basketball player who finds the young kids all alone one day, and can't find their mother
So he calls his parents, he briefly thinks about leaving the kids alone, but feeds them burhers and eventually takes them home. I believe the youngest of his nephews ends uo dying, and maybe his older sister does to? He starts using drugs with his friend, and is kicked off the team I think, but his nephew also realizes he is doing drugs, and talks about what it looked like when his sister was high and using drugs. He does eventually stop using. There is also a younger daughter who moves out and in with a friend, but they make her move back since they can't afford her, andbher parents won't pay. The nephew also calls his uncle hisnilder brother, which initally upsets him, but the grabdparents eventually adopt their oldest daughter's son(s) (I can't remember if one does die or not?) And the uncle and nephew do refer to each other as brothers by the end of the book.
