19 weeks mildly sick -> Ferber?
My EBF baby is 19 weeks tomorrow and I am desperate for sleep. She’s been doing almost all hourly wakes for about 4 weeks now.
We room share and I while she’s in a pack n play with the top level thing most of the time, have been bedsharing/chest sleeping out of desperation some of the time out. But I really don’t want to. We had a full term stillbirth and am very anxious but bed-sharing even with the Safe Sleep 7. We do have an owlet. We transitioned a week ago from the bassinet and I was planning to start sleep training that night but then she had a great night, and then she came down with a cold.
Actually she’s been stuffy the majority of the past 4 weeks. The first night of “sleep training” with TCB (light) I nursed her to sleep and she had a great night and didn’t need to do any of the things because her stretches were long enough that I just fed and laid her back down. Two wakes, zero issues. But it was the first night she was finally not stuffy in 3 weeks. Then the next night she was stuffy again and it was awful. And it’s been awful since.
How sick is too sick to sleep train? I don’t even know if her sleep will just be consistently fine if she is 100% well again. Maybe I don’t even need to sleep train. She was actually doing amazing before this regression. But the sleep dep is breaking me. I’m struggling!
Other points:
- Cannot move to own room due to current space constraints
- refuses pacifier (and won’t take a bottle anymore)
- is tired all night. Wants to sleep. But can’t connect sleep cycles and wants contact
- been having success getting her back to sleep by “swaying” the top tier of the pack n play and turning on the shusher. But it’s not helping her connect sleep cycles.
