Marshall Modernization Project Update – October 27, 2025
Big changes are happening on M-96 (Michigan Avenue) and I-69 as MDOT continues the multi-year modernization project to support the BlueOval Battery Park and improve traffic flow around Marshall. Here’s a detailed look at what’s going on now and what’s next:

---

Current Construction Work (Oct. 20–26)
• Crews are paving asphalt along Michigan Avenue between I-69 and Bear Creek.
• Concrete paving continues at the new diverging diamond interchange at I-69.
• Work is underway on both the north and south sides of Old Michigan Avenue, as well as the new cul-de-sac east of 15 Mile Road.
• One northbound lane of I-69 is open to traffic.
• The southbound I-69 off-ramp to Michigan Avenue remains closed while concrete paving continues.
• Preparation continues for new bridge beams and the future concrete surface of the northern Michigan Avenue bridge over I-69.

---

Coming Next (Oct. 27–Nov. 2)
• Continue asphalt paving from I-69 to Bear Creek.
• Finish paving on the diverging diamond interchange.
• Remove crossovers and the barrier wall on I-69.
• Complete the southbound off-ramp paving and pour the new bridge driving surface over I-69.

---

Local Road Changes
• Old Michigan Avenue will now connect into the new boulevard west of 15 Mile Road.
• East of 15 Mile Road, Old Michigan Avenue will close permanently with a new cul-de-sac built.
• 15 Mile Road will tie directly into the new Michigan Avenue boulevard and provide access to the old section.
• Pavement east of 15 Mile Road will be removed, and driveways extended to the new M-96 alignment.
• Traffic on M-96 will be fully shifted to the new boulevard section.

---

Traffic Detours
• Southbound I-69 off-ramp to Michigan Avenue is still closed.
• Detour: Southbound I-69 drivers should take F Drive to reach northbound I-69 and loop back toward Michigan Avenue.
