Having my second cultural shock
I am currently working at tamilnadu. Aadhyam thamasicha hostel was terrible. I stayed there for 7 months. I couldn't cook food so I always bought food from a nearby hotel. I tried to adapt but the bathroom and everything else was so terrible that I moved to another room today with my colleague. Though there are lots of malayalees here and even at my workplace, I mostly feel very disconnected from them. Like they are living in another seperate world from my own. Njan usually athyavishym quiet aayondum i am bad at making friends. So today for my new kitchen, I decided to go buy some groceries and all. Everything, literally everything, was written in Tamil. People at the reception and the other staffs in the supermarket were looking at me in an odd way as I was clueless. I was not able to navigate through the aisle because of my sudden anxiety. I came back to room and asked my colleague if I could share her utensils until I could buy one and she said no problem. Then she said you can have lunch from office and rest you can be like how you were at that previous hostel. She has been very confusing since the moment I stepped into the house and everything else is crashing down on me. I feel like I might never feel the kind of sense of belonging people often talk about when they move. This place might never be my second home. It's been a while since I felt this lonely. I am truly on my own and it is equally liberating and lonely at the same time.
