**Drones spotted near military base in Belgium**

Several drones have been seen flying over the Belgian military airbase of Kleine Brogel. Police arrived at the scene, according to the Flemish news site **VRT NWS**, but the drones had already disappeared.

Kleine Brogel is an air force base in eastern Belgium, a little more than 10 kilometers from the Dutch border. American nuclear weapons are stored there, and from 2027 it will become the home base for new F-35 fighter jets, **VRT NWS** reports.

“Flying drones over military sites is strictly forbidden,” wrote Defense Minister **Theo Francken** on X. “The Defense Department must do everything in its power to take down these drones.” Images of the drones have been captured, and the investigation is ongoing. “Defense will meet with local police in the coming week to analyze and escalate the threat so that we can locate and arrest the drone pilots,” the minister added.

Drones were also reportedly observed last night near the Belgian military domain of **Leopoldsburg**, about 20 kilometers from Kleine Brogel.

**Berlin**

Airspace over Berlin was disrupted by drones yesterday. Air traffic at **Brandenburg Airport** was halted for two hours last night after a suspected drone was sighted. The object was seen by several people but was not found. The first report came from a pilot; police officers who responded to the call also saw the object. It remains unclear what the object was or who was operating it.

Drones appear to be becoming an increasing nuisance over airports and military installations. There have been incidents involving such objects in **Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Estonia, and Lithuania**.

It is not yet clear where the drones originate from. **Russia** is often blamed, for example when **21 drones entered Polish airspace on September 10**.
