Experienced Digital Nomad, AMA

Lifestyle

Digital Nomading was a concept I was aware about since I started my career in 2016. I didn't travel much before so I started by visiting Japan and Germany. The excitement I got from these initial experiences gave me the motivation to find a way to becoming a Digital Nomad.

In 2019, I had a secured a good paying job in NYC. I was able to push the start date by many months, which gave me a low risk window to experiment with traveling as a Digital Nomad. I focused this time on building 2-3 small websites using ReactJS. At the same time, I visited 4-5 countries. From this test run I was confident I can become a Digital Nomad and travel the world, just needed to set up the right conditions.

In 2020, Due to the covid lockdowns, my job like many others had turned fully remote which opened up the possibility to pursue a Digital Nomad life, something I was always dreaming about. Unfortunately due to travel restrictions and being trapped in apartment leases, I wasn't able to travel outside the USA, I still managed to travel to approximately 10 cities in the USA.

In 2022, I was getting tired of being stuck in cities due the apartment lease, so I decided to not sign any more leases, and opted to stay in temporary apartments / hotels / friends houses while possessing only two bags of personal belonging. This is the year where everything came together and I was able to go all in. I booked my flight to Japan to start my digital nomad journey.

For the next 3 years, I travelled the world at a rate of one country per month, accumulating travel experiences to approximately 35 countries. A lot of things happened during this time period and a lot of insights developed. I am happy to answer any questions any one has!
