Mazda Vehicle Trade Assist vs (Backordered) Warranty Repair

One day while driving, all the warning lights came on in my 2024 Mazda CX-50 that I had owned for just under a year. Since it was under warranty, I took it to the dealership. Found out the Active Grille Shutter (Shroud) needed to be replaced. This was in July 2025. Before I left the dealership, they told me the part should arrive in two weeks. Unfortunately, that day came and went. The next estimate was the end of the month (August now) because the part needed to be shipped from Japan. Well, that date also came and went. As did September. And now October. The latest update from the dealership was that the part was backordered and not expected to ship until after the first of the year (January).

I have zero confidence in this estimate and think they are just trying to buy more time to be right. I opened a case with Mazda Corporate. The day after I did that, the dealership called to offer me a "Vehicle Trade Assist". Where they claim they will put me in a 2025 model at no additional cost to me. They don't have the exact configuration of my car, and since it's late in the year, there are very few 2025 model options available. It feels like the dealership is trying to rush me into making a decision. So this is why I'm questioning if this is too good to be true. Does anyone have experience with this situation and can let me know how it worked out for them?

Options:

  1. Continuing to wait 6+ months for my 2024 CX-50 to be repaired; Potentially incurring more warranty work due to sitting idle in dealer storage for an extended period of time

  2. Take the dealer Vehicle Trade Assist offer for a 2025 CX-50, same trim but different int/ext color and package options.

  3. Wait and see what solutions Mazda Corporate might offer

  4. Explore filing a claim with Mazda's lemon law program
