Does the game ‘end?’

Trying to find a new game to play and AF has been recommended. But what’s not clear is whether the game is a questline with an ending? Or is it perpetual?

I’m looking for something more like Icarus?

AF seems like it might be kinda like RDR2? There’s a main questline but you can take your time getting there? Or is it truly open-ended?

I’d appreciate any insights.
