What criteria are you rethinking after a past relationship?
Hey everyone,
My recent relationship ended a few days ago, and I’ve been spending some time reflecting, not so much on what went wrong in the day-to-day, but on why I chose that person in the first place and whether I was using the right criteria.
As Christians, we often talk about being “equally yoked,” shared values, and godly character, but when it comes down to choosing an actual person, there are always subtle factors that can cloud our judgment: emotional chemistry, timing, loneliness, optimism, or even a desire to make things work because they “seem good enough.”
I’m curious to hear from others who have gone through similar experiences:
What personal criteria or “non-negotiables” are you re-evaluating after a past relationship?
Were there traits you thought mattered that turned out to be less important or things you overlooked that turned out to be crucial?
I’m hoping this discussion helps not just me, but anyone trying to approach dating with more wisdom and discernment next time around.
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts 🙏
