aitah for trying to have a neighborly relationship?

my best friend, myself, and my boyfriend (all 20years old) all moved in together to my best friends old childhood home we rent from her family.

there's a family with two young school age kids next to us. since we moved in, i've been friendly and would talk to them if i saw them outside. when we moved in we gave them a card with a bike tent I had received as a gift that I didn't use, and they responded by sending us cupcakes on easter. over the summer I would run over and give them boxes of popsicles and ice cream because my mom always ordered us too much (i couldn't drive for a while due to medical issues so she had to order our groceries) and it always seemed chill and nice. the little kids would wave to us when we saw them outside and would come pet the cats when we would walk them.

however, the day before halloween i made 'boo bags' with extra candy, halloween themed cups, glow sticks, and other random halloween stuff I got on clearance like spider rings and whatnot. i included a card saying happy halloween and to enjoy, i also included my phone number because I realized I have never given it to them and there have been times i wished i would be able to shoot a text to a neighbor about a noise or electricity or whatever, ya know a neighborly thing to do. i haven't really spoken to anyone else on the street to this extent, obviously some in passing.

following the boo bags, we saw them taking photos and getting ready to trick or treat. we had our lights on, candy ready, and decorations up. this is our first halloween in the house together, so it was exciting. we saw them walk across the street, then down to another house,, then down to another house,,, and never ended up coming to ours!

honestly i'm not mad about it or anything but i just don't know if im misreading the situation?? i don't fully understand why they wouldn't come to ours to trick or treat, especially after the gift bags. i'm just confused frankly and a little frustrated because i know nobody else on the street and don't want to have to start this whole song and dance with other people... am i an asshole and a creep because i feel like one!!
