Record your jam

What do you use to record your jam sessions? I’m considering to buy a recorder or mixer-recorder that I just switch on when I start and it will record a few layers in the background so I can build a library of tempo patched stems that I can use in my work as a video game composer later. Would the 1010 blue box fit that?
