U8a Haplogroup

I’m just starting to read about haplogroups. My 23&me results say I’m U8a. This article says it’s extremely rare with like 800 DNA tested descendants in the world and only 40 in the U.S. I’m sure the numbers have changed since the article was written, but is that accurate?
