People keep shit talking the city I moved to.

Not looking for input

It’s 100% just the culture of where I live (Midwest). Lived in a small city (for USA standards but large for my state) for 6 years. Went through a bad break up and wasn’t happy there anymore, decided to move to the next city over which Is much larger and about an hour drive. SO MANY PEOPLE (friends, coworkers, or even just acquaintances at my old job) where I lived the last 6 years literally say “ew why did you move there” “that place is gross” “I don’t think you’ll like it there”. It’s seriously pissing me off to no ends. I am still in my 20s. Single, no kids. Why would I NOT want to live in a larger city with new and more exciting things to do? I’m not over here raising a family of 5 worried about the safety of my kids going to school. I love my new location so far (been about 2 months since I started moving/transitioning to living and working in my new city). I am having so much fun exploring new places and meeting new people. My old city was largely a college town/a place where many people settle to raise a family. That is NOT WHERE I AM IN LIFE on either end. I am established in my career and bored of living there and doing the same week on repeat month after month. Will I end up doing that in my new location? Yeah probably eventually. But I want to see where this takes me in life!!! Also this new city is actually wayyyy cleaner and nicer in most places than the last place. Maybe it used to be trashier, idk. There’s definitely more crime since it’s much larger over all, I really don’t care though? As long as I am not being bothered. Hell, my last house in the last city was by a park where people got shot a couple times during my time living nearby. It’s not like it’s really that much better or worse in my opinion.
