Getting too cosy with alcohol - what meds work the same?

Discussion

I’ve had anxiety from about 17-18, now 32. Wouldn’t say it’s got much better but I can speak to people in a basic level without my heart pumping and sweating now unless it’s people I don’t know.

I’ve always known that alcohol turns me into the person I want to be - even 1 or 2 beers will do it but I know it’s a terrible place to go down. I come from a family of alcoholics - especially all of us men. It’s only myself and one cousin who don’t drink heavily out what was 9 of us. Three have died over the past 3 years because of it.

I totally understand why they do it, Everything goes away but not forever.

I’m losing hope at this point and have started drinking a few cans more then I’d like.

I’ve tried so many SSRIs and triptans - none of them work like alcohol. The stupid man in my head stops talking and I have the ability to be that person people want to be around. People can’t believe how different I am after a few drinks.

My question is; what medications have the same effect as alcohol? There just be something. Exposure therapy does not work for me. This is holding me back so much as I have the other qualities like intelligence- I’m the go to guy at work for sorting things out physically I’m just terrible with people no matter how hard I’ve tried over the years.
