Rules question for Tifa interaction.

Had a game where I was able to steal another players Tifa. Then I used my board to swing at everyone with power 7 creatures for life. But it also knocked out the original Tifa controller. Would the extra turns still proc for me or would I lose them to the player dying and Tifa leaving?
