Ubuntu VS Debin editions

Whats better ubuntu variation or debian one? I used ubuntu one and i like it except nvidia drivers which are crap lol but generally good system no doubt but i have concers beacuse of canonical which owns ubuntu and which mint cinnamon, xfce and mate depend on so how good is debian one and is expirience much same, i saw that debian lacks updates which is also concern to me like security and are apps up to date since debian is not updating regulary like ubuntu.
