Inherited a “nice” LG front-loader… turns out it’s mold city. How do I clean the unreachable parts?
Just bought a house with an LG front-loading washer (grey). Looked great until I opened the gasket and detergent drawer… both were full of mold.
I scrubbed the gasket and drawer with a cleaning solution (Amazon stuff), and over a week got ~80% of the visible mold off. I also ran the washer’s Tub Clean and used Affresh three separate times.
Every time I run another clean cycle, black specks/chunks still show up in the drum, like the internal hoses/dispenser path/recirculation lines still have mold or biofilm I can’t reach.
What I’ve tried Pulled back the door gasket and scrubbed thoroughly Removed and washed the detergent drawer + housing area Multiple Tub Clean cycles with Affresh x 3 times
What’s the best way to deep-clean the internal paths on these LG front-loaders (dispenser channel, recirculation, drain lines)?
Any enzyme/biofilm cleaners that actually work vs. just perfuming it?
At what point is this a lost cause vs. worth disassembling/replacing hoses/gasket?
I hate the idea of tossing a working machine that still has life left, but I’m stuck. Any proven steps or product recs would be awesome.
TL;DR: Cleaned visible mold, but clean cycles still release mold chunks. Need advice on deep-cleaning the internal plumbing or knowing when to give up.
